The steady increase in international travel and trade is accelerating the spread of plant pests and diseases. The climate change is expanding habitats and favoring the spread of pests, so that crops in Central Europe are facing new threats. Safe food supplies, even in our country, are at risk.

How can the spread of plant pests and diseases be prevented? How to react specifically when they have already spread? And with fewer pesticides. Are there new, effective technical approaches that can help maintain food security?

On the occasion of International Plant Health Day on May 12, "acatech am Dienstag" (acatec on Thuesday) will continue to ask: How does the immune system of plants work? What technical solutions contribute to integrated crop protection? How can the spread of pests through trade and transport be effectively prevented?
