Where else can you see that much white-blue Bavarian sky – and this even in the middle of the city! In fact, it is not entirely self-evident that such a large open space still exists in urban areas today. Munich's residents owe this to the Oktoberfest, of course, which in 1810 started with a horse race on agricultural fields far outside the city gates.
Today, the Theresienwiese is nestled between fantastic 1900s villas, an old public shower facility in new splendour, the newly developed old trade fair grounds and a truly fantastic church. The greenery is overlooked by the Bavaria and the busts in the Hall of Fame, which are just as much a topic on this walk as the fact that the future of the meadow was temporarily at stake for a short time.
The participants of the tour will also visit the Theresienwiese's smaller green siblings, the still newly created St. Paul's Square and the Bavaria Park with its relaxing lawns.
