Flowers and fashion are in a close relationship - be it as a pattern of the fabric, as an applied decoration or even as a formal model for a design. The reference can be motivic, decorative or also charged with content. The lecture by Dr. Michaela Braesel aims to provide an introduction to the history of this relationship, with a focus on 20th century fashion. This will also include a look at the importance of the feather and flower makers, examples of which can be seen in the exhibition and whose work is essential to the effect of a design.

With seven annual exhibitions, the Galerie Handwerk gives the Arts & Crafts culture a clear presence in Munich. The themes correspond to the variety of tasks that crafts perform in culture and society: the spectrum ranges from applied arts and crafts to crafts and architecture, crafts in the preservation of monuments, to design training and teaching concepts in crafts. Traditional, classic and avant-garde approaches are presented. The exhibitions at Galerie Handwerk are national and international in scope. It thus makes a significant contribution to communicating and preserving handicraft culture worldwide.
