The natural spectacle of the Alps and the sight of the mountains develop a force that influences and shapes people since time immemorial. This is how traditions, customs and habits typical of the Alpine region have come into being. However, if one climbs to the heights carelessly, the decreasing air pressure can cause mountain sickness, confusion and sensory deprivation. Today we live in a society of success and achievement, characterized by a strong individualism. The "Höhenrausch" thus becomes a symbol of our society, which often wants to reach too high too fast.
The Austrian choreographer Georg Reischl returns thematically to his home country with this dance evening and shows that we need the old in order to be able to go new ways: "The curious and regionally unique customs in the Salzburg region inspire me to create a choreography that brings together what doesn't belong together, namely Alpine tradition with contemporary dance." Together with the ballet company of the Gärtnerplatz Theater, he searches for a contemporary movement vocabulary to Anton Bruckner's Symphony No. 4 "The Romantic", the culmination of late Romantic symphonic music, that does not deny its relationship to classical dance in order to make the music visible through the body.
