The abundance of blossoms and tree ornaments in the local gardens largely originate from Japan. It is thanks to the passionate collector, physician and naturalist Philipp Franz von Siebold that the local gardens possess these treasures today. Undaunted by dangers and setbacks, Siebold built a bridge to Japanese culture and used his stays in the distant country for his research.

The participants look into the plant treasure brought to Europe and hear about his eventful life at the beginning of the 19th century.
