Their appearance is enchanting, their legs partly boundless, their stance graceful, their delicate bodies wrapped in colourful it-pieces of the season. They pose glamorously in front of the camera.
Natalie Strohmaier's photo series "Germany`s Next Topflower" thematises the artificial creation of beauty and desire and offers an aesthetic satire on the fashion industry.
The photo artist's models are flowers and plant parts photographically staged. They show the tension of socially produced role models between naturalness and artificiality as well as their transience. In order to emphasise the uniqueness of the models and their exaggerated ideal of beauty, "mass-produced flowers" are deliberately avoided in the creation of the photographs. In some of the pictures, the plant creatures are almost human-sized and fascinate with their size, elegance and simple attention to detail.
