Even after 50 years, the Olympic Park is still a crowd puller: spectacular events such as rock concerts, festivals or major sporting events attract many people here again and again. At the same time, the park is also a recreational area for joggers, pedal boaters or sun worshippers.
Less known is the eventful history of this area: sheep pasture, parade ground, airport, mountain of rubble.
Huge masses of earth were moved to create the Olympic Park, which perfectly implemented the spirit of the "cheerful, informal" Games. With grace and lightness, the planners wanted to create a deliberate contrast to the 1936 Games in Nazi Germany.
The preservation of the park faces new challenges and offers visions for the future.
