No other architect of the 17th–19th centuries has produced as many orangeries and greenhouses as Johann Lucas von Hildebrandt. His work is remarkable simply because of the number of the orangeries he built. Almost a dozen orangeries and greenhouses in seven palaces and gardens can be traced. Starting with the orangery at Schloss Hof, the lecture presents the typological development of Hildebrandt's œuvre as well as the special features of the orangeries in terms of construction and cultural technology.

Thomas Baumgartner has been a (seasonal) employee of the Schönbrunn Group at Schloss Hof and Schloss Schönbrunn since 2019/2021.
