Somehow every day in Haidhausen feels like the weekend! This may be due to the many small colorfully decorated street cafés or the lovingly restored facades of the former houses for the poor. Or maybe it's the lushly planted balconies and flower boxes, the facades covered with beguilingly fragrant wisteria, or the small colorful green spaces that contribute to this feeling everywhere in the neighborhood. It is not without reason that Haidhausen has become one of Munich's most popular residential districts.
The tour sheds light on the development of the neighborhood and the time when the other side of the Isar was still a stopgap for all those who could not possibly afford the expensive Munich. Yet amidst all the misery, splendid private parks were already to be found here in the 17th century. In addition, the topic of "housing" plays an important role in the past as it does today. In the old Haidhausen, the question of the right roof over one's head was formative for today's streetscape.
