The topic of today's lecture is the 1960s as a decade of change in society and art. In this context, the art scene reflects numerous moments of awakening: the interconnectedness of pop and culture, visions of technology, and social revolts. New formats and languages ensured that art penetrated people's lives and opened up new horizons. Examples are provided by Pop Art, Minimal Art and Action Art, but also by industrial design, architecture and the Psychedelic Art of the Flower Power movement. As different as the positions and works are, they are often united by a common goal: to activate people and let them participate in art. This makes the art of the "Sixties" far more than innovative. It unhinged the previous concept of art.
