Biotope 117 – a remnant of the gravel plain created by the last ice age – still bears witness to Munich's original heath landscape. The 1.3 hectare area has developed into a valuable, nutrient-poor calcareous grassland after being used as a helipad for the Stetten barracks. Since 2004, the Landesbund für Vogelschutz e.V. (LBV) has been taking care of this species-rich heathland vegetation as a leaseholder, which provides a habitat for the protected butterfly Idas blue butterfly.
After the tour, visitors are invited to explore the flower diversity on their own by means of a rally with designated stations. The LBV biotope care team will be available to answer questions about the care of this natural oasis.
Speakers: Alicia Bilang (StadtNatur, Verein Ackermannbogen e.v.) and Katharina Spannraft (Head of LBV-Biotoppflege)
