Based on his series "Flowers", Fabian Gatermann has developed a paper installation for the FÜNF HÖFE at the interface of nature and technology, which relates to the iconic Hanging Gardens in the Salvatorpassage.
The paradisiacal notion of grapes growing from above into the mouth is countered by floral forms on paper webs rising from below. The process of growth from the depths goes towards the light and is emblematic of the permanent development within ourselves.
Fabian Gatermann lets the basis for his flower-like forms grow out of software codes. He assembles their fractal sequences into natural-looking structures. They are drawn with a pen on seven-meter-long Chinese paper rolls and then partially dissolved with liquid. The apparent destruction decomposes the ink into its color components and allows the artworks to blossom. New dimensions, colors and shapes emerge and merge with each other.
