He is considered the most important German representative of Impressionism: Max Liebermann (1847–1935). In 1909, he had his "Castle on the Lake" built on Wannsee. He laid out the large garden with the help of the director of the Hamburg Kunsthalle, Alfred Lichtwark, and found the motifs for his late work here: the perennial garden, the flower terrace, the birch grove and the large lawn that extends to the Wannsee. A unique combination of art, architecture and garden culture.
