The consequences of climate change are also present in the gardens: heat, drought or sudden heavy rain put a strain on plants, animals and also on us. Not all trees or perennials are so robust, not every animal so adaptable, that they can cope with extreme weather. People also avoid the garden when temperatures rise and shade or water are lacking.

Students of landscape architecture at the university Weihenstephan-Triesdorf have tackled the pressing question of how gardens can remain pleasant and beautiful places of recreation in the future. In a competition organized by initiative Stadt.Klima.Natur (City.Climate.Nature), they have developed climate-friendly design and planting proposals for the exhibition area of the Bavarian State Ministry of the Environment and Consumer Protection at the „Landesgartenschau Freyung 2023“. The exhibition inspires with a variety of ideas and invites visitors to learn more about the initiative Stadt.Klima.Natur and the „Landesgartenschau Freyung 2023“.
