Common and different to the namesake Flower Power of the 60s/70s are at the center of the works of Margret Kube. The artist is concerned with backgrounds, borders, nature, environment, the reappraisal of their own history, childhood and youth in the GDR. As working materials serve her acrylic and oil paints, canvas, old textiles that are unraveled and sewn back together, wood, homemade papier-mache or paper.
In connection with the exhibition, open discussions will be held on Thursdays, Aug. 31, Sept. 7 and Sept. 14, 2023, starting at 7 p.m. each day. An interactive discussion on the history and background of the Flower Power era is to develop. The focus will be on topics such as "Make love, not war", rejection of the parental way of life, drug use, music, pop artists, literature, fashion.
