Exhibition
Munich Documentation Centre for the History of National Socialism

The NS-Dokumentationszentrum will show an installation of recent works by artist Zhanna Kadyrova which she created as a direct reaction to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. They are an expression of the fierce resilience and resistance of an artist in the face of military force. The work „Refugees“ (2022) is at the center of the installation. Haunting interior shots document the destruction of civilian infrastructure in Ukraine, laid to waste by Russian missiles. Between fragments of furniture, torn curtains, and soot-covered rubble, the only sign of former life is the potted plants. The artist rescued these mute survivors, providing them with temporary refuge in the exhibition space where they testify to the war crimes perpetrated against the Ukrainian civilian population.
